FISH

The FISH or Fluorescence in situ hybridization is another technique of chromosomal testing.

This technique is similar to the previous technique, except that it makes use of a slightly different technique of evaluation.

The blood sample can be collected in the same fashion as for the Karyotyping method and can be a blood sample, an amino acid or an embryonic sample.

Once it is taken, the sample is placed on a dish and a special fluorescent ink is injected.

It is then allowed to take on the color and this can take a day. The next day, the technician places the sample under a microscope and the cells will start to glow in the dark.

This will help in analyzing it and understanding the nature of the chromosomes. It will be easy to determine if there are any extra ones or if some of them have extra bits attached. It will also be easy to analyze if there is something wrong in the gene make up.

This method is said to be a little more accurate than the previous one but is also much expensive.

This method is used to determine if someone has leukemia or a similar life threatening disease.
